Vesuvio Cafe - A San Francisco Lounges Gem

Vesuvio is noted as being one of Kerouac’s favorite bars amongst many other famous writers, musicians and artists. It’s like walking into a little slice of history. It is somewhat touristy, but the locals are still alive and well in this atmosphere. If you are a young yuppie, just please remember to tip the staff well - I saw multiple people mistreat these hard working bar tenders after they served up a slew of complicated cocktails.

We had a drink and didn’t try their food. The atmosphere is very inviting. The bar has full of character. Loved it.

By far and away the best bar in North Beach and one of the best in the city. This place has a really cool vibe and is nicely decorated. During the week it is usually decently busy, perfect for hanging out at the bar and chatting with friends or a date, but weekends it can get absolutely slammed. There is an upstairs section with nice views of the downstairs for people watching and of the street / alley outside, but sometimes it can be incredibly tough to snag a seat. It is pretty tight inside and not a huge place, but it is pretty easy to strike up conversations with people. When it gets slammed with people getting a drink can take awhile sometimes. Prices are definitely on the cheaper side and this bar really does attract all types of people. I always run into people visiting the city here, as well as people that are there all the time. Even when I am going out in other parts of the city I like to start off my night here and it is one of my favorite bars.

Vesuvio Cafe is an incredibly atmospheric and iconic bar with a unique character you won’t find anywhere else. The vibe is vibrant, artistic, and full of history - you can feel it the moment you walk in. The cocktails are excellent - well balanced, creative, and made with real attention to detail. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy great drinks, and soak in the energy of the city at the same time. If you’re looking for a bar with personality, great cocktails, and a truly memorable atmosphere, Vesuvio Cafe is a must-visit.

This place is so very cute and just a great time to hang out in, love the balcony area too. The drinks were surprisingly not too expensive and service was quite quick

Pretty cool bar! Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite popping! Very trendy and artsy. Love it! Bartenders are really friendly. First come first serve seating. They also have a second floor area

Good drinks, good food, nice vibe. But if I were to choose, I’d go the Saloon.
